What we collect

To match you with a mechanic we collect: your name, phone number, email, GPS location at the time of the request, vehicle make/model/VIN-last-4, fleet DOT number if provided, and the description of your problem. Mechanics additionally provide their business identity, Certificate of Insurance, W-9, services, shop coverage area, and weekly invoice-payment preference.

How we use it

Driver contact info is shared with the mechanic who accepts your job so they can reach you on site. Mechanic identity + rating is shown to drivers reviewing quotes. We do not sell or share data with advertisers.

Text-message privacy

When you opt in to RoadService.app text messages, we use your phone number and messaging preferences to deliver transactional job-dispatch, service-status, and account messages. We retain delivery status and opt-out records so we can honor your choices and diagnose delivery failures. SMS consent and phone numbers collected for messaging are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for their own marketing. We share them only with service providers that deliver messages on our behalf or when required by law.

You can opt out at any time by replying STOP or by disabling dispatch SMS in your profile. Reply HELP for help or contact privacy@roadservice.app. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies.

Payments

For an on-site collection job, the mechanic collects the customer-approved total at the truck. We retain the payment method, the amount the mechanic reports collecting, and related variance notes so we can issue the mechanic's weekly invoice for the exact difference between the customer-approved total and the accepted mechanic bid.

For a job that explicitly uses RoadService-managed payment or escrow, a third-party payment processor handles card details. We may retain transaction identifiers, payment status, authorized or captured amounts, refunds, and dispute records, but RoadService.app does not store full card numbers. The mechanic is instructed not to collect the same payment again at the truck.

Retention

Job records (request, bids, accepted offer, completion proof, payment record) are retained for 7 years for tax and dispute resolution purposes. You may request deletion by emailing privacy@roadservice.app; we will redact PII and retain only aggregate records required by law.

Security

Data is stored encrypted at rest in Supabase Postgres (AES-256). Connections use TLS 1.3. Access is gated by per-user JWT auth. Row-level security policies are in place on all tables.

Children

RoadService.app is intended for commercial fleet operators and adult drivers. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Your rights (California / GDPR)

You can request a copy of your data, correction of inaccuracies, or deletion. Contact privacy@roadservice.app. We respond within 30 days.

Material changes posted here with 30 days' notice via email to your account.
